…with touches of genius…
Cosi fan tutte -“Few times, a classic – in every sense of the word – receives a contemporary adaptation so right on the money and – why not say it? – with touches of genius as this staging of Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte… The brilliant concept of stage director Jeffrey Buchman… left the audience laughing uncontrollably.”  El Nuevo Herald
…high praise to Buchman…
Hansel and Gretel -“Director Jeffrey Buchman’s concept accentuated the darkness of the story, setting it in the U.S. during the Great Depression where extreme poverty very well could have inspired a horrific act such as the one that plays out during the overture: a mother abandoning her child in the forest because she can no longer care for her. High praise to Buchman for bringing a new twist to a well-known work from the repertoire. All indications are that this 19th century opera has found its allure with a 21st century audience.”El Nuevo Herald
…devilishly clever…
Faust- Nadler’s equal here is Jeffrey Marc Buchman, a Luciano Pavarotti voice competition winner who has applied his operatic experience to stage and set direction. Even his details say volumes: Witness the searing scene of bedraggled soldiers limping home from battle, still singing its praises “Gloire immortelle de nos aïeux” and handing a child their sword to raise for the next generation. His liberal use of the two dancers to interpret temptation and emotion — not to mention moving a set or two — is, well, devilishly clever.”NaplesNews.com
…brilliant addition to this staging…
Il Trovatore - “The company deftly maneuvered through a four-act, seven-scene, multiple-ensemble workhorse burdened with a plot that would be found under “ludicrous” in the dictionary. High notes:– The dance work of Rosa Mercedes, who injects a startling, dramatic ghost of Azucena’s own murdered mother at the just the right moments. It’s a brilliant addition to this staging. – The chorus of the nuns, who prepare to receive a distraught Leonora as one of their own before she is kidnapped. This is an elegant scene vocally and visually. Its rivals are the courtyard scenes, with their cliques of knife-sharpening soldiers, and the darkly overtoned prison setting.”NaplesNews.com
…excellent acting and staging…
Viva la Mamma -“Viva only works if there is excellent acting and staging, and thank goodness, this production has both, thanks to the young singers and to stage director Jeffrey Marc Buchman.”The Gathering Note
